604g Two Interlocked Pyrite Cubes on Host Rock

Notify me when something similar is available:

Aesthetic duel pyrite cube specimen from Spain. The pyrite cubes sit on top of the natural host rock and display beautifully. This locality's limestone matrix can dissolve in water, so the specimens matrix needs to stay dry for these pyrite cubes to stay in place.

  • Locality: Navajún, La Rioja, Spain
  • Measurement: Approx. 4.0" x 3.2"x 2.3"
  • Weight: 604g

  • FYI: When mined, these pyrite cubes typically do not stay in place on the host rock unless buried deep within the matrix. Almost all of the on matrix pyrite specimens have been stabilized with some sort of epoxy or glue to keep the cubes in place. The pyrite and the host rock is all natural, so it is very common that many of these natural Spanish pyrite specimens have been reassembled, just as they were within the earth.
