An intriguing and highly unusual tanzanite rough specimen reportedly sourced from the rare Voi locality in Kenya. This piece displays rich blue to teal coloration with noticeable color zoning and directional structure, giving it a distinctly different appearance compared to classic Merelani (Tanzanian) material.
The crystal shows natural cleavage surfaces and internal directional banding consistent with zoisite, along with visible inclusions and growth features that highlight its natural origin. Its slightly more saturated and varied blue-green tones, paired with its unique structure, make this an especially interesting collector’s piece.
Material attributed to Kenya is rarely seen on the market, and while occurrences outside of Tanzania have been discussed among experienced dealers, they remain extremely limited. This specimen offers a compelling opportunity for collectors interested in unusual locality material and atypical expressions of tanzanite.
