This Welo Ethiopian hydrophane opal mineral specimen has an amazing play of color. It has just about every color of the rainbow. Not only that, but this piece would be ideal for cutting/carving a thin opal, or to be used as is in a very impressive natural opal piece. This piece has a huge surface area with an amazing play of color, but is thin, so you get the look of a massive opal without the cost of the weight. We recommend that this opal material NOT be submerged in water (unless it is being cut, water will keep it cool), and it should never have any oils applied to it. Also, due to the hydrophane nature of this opal, the weight can vary slightly with humidity. We consider this to be a Thumbnail (TN) sized specimen.
