Welo Ethiopian hydrophane opal mineral specimen with an amazing play of color. While many other pieces I have available are ideal for cutting rough, this piece probably not one of them. I selected this piece for the depth of color play and bright pattern. That being said, it is pretty included on the inside, so the yield on a cut gem would not be good. Watch Video to see the play of color and full view of this opal.
We recommend that this opal material NOT be submerged in water (unless it is being cut, water will keep it cool), and it should never have any oils applied to it. Also, due to the hydrophane nature of this opal, the weight can vary slightly with humidity. We consider this to be a Thumbnail (TN) sized specimen.
