6cry 2878
A striking Ethiopian opal displaying vibrant play-of-color with bright flashes of green, orange, and red across a translucent body. The color is bold and directional, with layered fire that shifts beautifully as the stone is moved under light.
This piece retains natural matrix along portions of the exterior, giving it strong specimen appeal while also offering cutting potential. There is quality gem material present within the opal; however, a natural internal fracture will influence how the piece can be utilized. While it is absolutely cuttable, the finished gem will yield smaller than the overall size may initially suggest.
An excellent dual-purpose piece for either display or for a cutter who understands how to orient and maximize yield from natural opal rough.
Please Note: Ethiopian opals are hydrophane and can absorb moisture. Water exposure (including during cutting) may temporarily affect their appearance, but as the stone dries, its color will naturally return over time. These opals should be stored in a dry environment. Avoid prolonged exposure to oils or chemicals, as oils can be absorbed and may permanently affect the appearance.
